Description

If you are a painter, you have to buy the perfect blue. If you are a sculptor, you have to buy the marble. But as fiction writers all you have to do is snap and whatever you imagine is there. You need kittens with pus in their eyes? Wham, no problem. You want an Hermes handbag? It’s there on the character’s arm. If anything, what can be overwhelming is how many options we have at our disposal in any given moment, and this workshop is designed to empower you to make bigger, better, bolder decisions with your details.
This generative workshop will take you through work by Kevin Wilson, James McBride and Kiley Reid, looking at the power of detail to hyper-charge your fiction, turning the mildly unhelpful adage “show, don’t tell” into something actionable and exciting.
