What does it take to be a great Live Lit performer? In this four-week course, we’ll explore everything there is to know about live-lit/storytelling in Chicago. We’ll practice writing live-lit, see a few storytelling shows together, talk about performance and all the ins and outs of live lit — AND get you ready to crush the live lit scene with a real live class performance.
Absolutely zero previous experience necessary! This will be the kindest, most loving and supportive environment — if you’ve always wanted to perform in a live-lit show but have been nervous or worried about it — THIS IS YOUR SIGN.
Week 1: What is live-lit? What is storytelling? We’ll examine the form, its rules and how to master them.
Week 2: How do you write for live-lit? There are certain stories and writing that work best — what are they?
Week 3: Shows … the people, places, and personalities of live-lit in Chicago alllllll of your questions answered.
Week 4: The Performance — What are you supposed to do with your hands and other fun problems to explore.

WHAT DOES THIS CLASS INCLUDE?
Outside reading: Any reading we’ll do in class together … there will be no outside homework. Though, I am planning on having little field trips to various live lit shows during the week. I know life is complicated so it’s not required.
