Description

Nature writing and environmental writing are often narrowly conceived as fly fishing or backpacking celebrations, or journalistic advocacy about an aspect of the climate crisis. In this generative workshop, however, we will flip traditional understandings of environmental writing by reading work that pushes the traditional boundaries of the genre. Readings will serve to help us redefine and reimagine environmental writing. With these new definitions in mind, we will then dive into our own writing. The workshop will include brief readings and discussion, brainstorming, and generative prompts and writing time. By the end of the session participants will have a seed essay draft.
