        CLASS INFO

It’s often assumed that in order to properly render a character on the page, the writer must have a thorough and commanding knowledge of that character. But the most enduring characters often elude definition or act in contradictory, irrational ways.

What can we do to make our characters more slippery and therefore truer to life? As Elizabeth Bowen wrote, “The ideal way of presenting character is to invite perception.”

In this class we will examine characters that invite perception, and we’ll put what we learn to practice through writing exercises.

Please support Tania by purchasing her book The Tusk That Did the Damage from Bookshop.
