This class is part of our “Summer Novel Series,” a variety of single-session classes on Thursday evenings designed to tackle one element of novel writing in each class. You can take one class, pick and choose, or take all of them! You can find all other classes in the series here.
Most fiction writers, from the literary to the fantastical, use research to further their writing. The more you know about the world, people and time you create on the page the more that you can imbue your fiction with meaning and verisimilitude.
But, finding the kinds of information we need and thinking about how to incorporate that work into a creative piece can be difficult business. We will begin by considering the research queries that underpin our fiction as we examine how to undertake various forms of research and how to to weave that information not just into the fabric of the story but into the process of creation.
