Purchasing this room will put you in one of three options in the newly renovated Barnhouse (a lovely building, not an actual barn!). This is an overnight purchase, with a private bathroom.
This is for the April 13-17, 2026 week-long writing retreat with Toya Wolfe.
As part of Ragdale’s Master Workshops series, StoryStudio is proud to offer this week-long retreat experience.
Part retreat, part mini-residency, this Master Workshop for writers will focus on providing space and community for your work-in-progress. Outside of structured writing time and mini-lessons, the week has been crafted to provide ample writing time to yourself.
Theme for the week: Your Story, Your Voice
What’s the story you’ve always wanted to tell? Where does it take place? Which voices would you use to tell it? This workshop will help you get started, continue or revise, and as a group, we will discuss the nuances of your tale, as well as your unique voice and style.
We’ll discuss elements of a narrator or character’s voice by zoning in on the specific elements of place and culture that influence how they speak, studying the pages of published writers, your recollection of dialects, accents, and speech patterns from your life to give your writing a specific, vibrant, voice.
Unlike traditional workshops, this week-long retreat will be more consultation, generative, and discussion based.
There would also be slots during which participants will meet one-on-one with Toya to discuss an element of their writing that they want. There isn’t meant to be pre-reading of work, so this will not be workshop-based, but rather a conversation of your ideas, where you’re at in the process, discussing the publishing industry, etc.
The week begins with dinner on Monday, and all meals are included through Friday brunch.
