This 8-week workshop is designed for writers who want to create their own short story collection. Focus will be on story development, voice, movement and structure, constructive feedback, and in-class writing.
Deciding to pursue an MFA program is a big decision, and on top of that, most programs are extremely competitive. To get in the door, you need a polished, impressive application that shows that program that you are the perfect fit.
The goal of this six-week class is to understand what makes a compelling memoir work. Specifically, we’ll examine how to use structure to build tension, how to incorporate backstory, and how to think about pacing, voice, and narration.
So you want to write for kids? Great! This course will help you craft your story.
Students will learn the fundamentals of playwriting through writing scenes for each class session, followed by a 10-minute play which will be workshopped and revised.
This class is for anyone who has an idea that could make a great ongoing comedy or drama show, limited series, or web series, and who wants to learn the crucial basics of how to write it.
This course will serve both as an introduction to poetry for prose writers as well as exploring how practiced poets can use fictional avenues rather than simply writing from the confessional, Lyric “I.”
